MISFITSTUDIO (Trinity Bellwoods & Ossington): Moving a bit further away from sweat and cardio and more towards mindfulness and strengthening your body and soul with a great variety of pilates classes. Classes such as Get Lifted, Get Cheeky, Get Worked, Get Shifted and many more will have you feeling moved, inspired, accomplished and light as you leave. Both Trinity Bellwoods and Ossington studios are also very aesthetically pleasing. The Queen Street location is on the third floor of a converted church above the Anthropologie and has exposed brick and beautiful stained glass windows from the 1800s.
889 Yoga (Yorkville): 889 Yoga is a gorgeous yoga studio just south of Rosedale station. Here you can take pilates classes, all different types of yoga including vinyasa, yin, a lovely restorative class which is essentially a group nap (perfect for a Sunday evening), core power flow and more. On street level at this studio is a boutique selling yoga gear such as mats, towels and clothing as well as jewelry, skincare and other lifestyle goods.
Big Hit Studios (West Queen West): Amazing kickboxing studio! Perfect way to relieve stress and get your cardio on. Each student has a B.O.B (Body Opponent Bag) to accompany them during the high intensity workout. Each class is 45 minutes (some of the more intense and fast-paced ones are 30 minutes) and range from standard kickboxing to cross training workouts, core workouts, workouts using weighted medicine balls, isometric movements and varied cardio intervals. Instructors are all amazing and high energy.
Track Fitness (Forest Hill): Great fitness studio uptown with tons of classes being offered daily. A fan favourite is the Circuit 60 class that involves treadmills and weight training intervals. My favourite is the bootcamp class with high intensity circuit training that will have you sweating like a hot mess. And after your workout you can go next door to enjoy a fresh juice or smoothie from Greenhouse Juice.
Ride Cycle Club (Ossington): Ride is the best spin studio in Toronto and after your first time here you won’t want to go to another studio. Most of the instructors play really killer rap and hip hop playlists and majority of your ride will have the lights turned off to maximize intensity.
Yogaspace (Ossington): A great yoga studio in the west end. The space has a very chill vibe with natural light and all the instructors I've had are amazing. Definitely try the vinyasa class or the gentle restorative yoga for something a bit more relaxing.
Harmony Fitness (Cedarvale): Fitness studio offering a variety of classes like barre, H.I.I.T., Treadsanity, pilates, cardio sculpt, etc. The best classes here are Body Sculpt with Devon and Power with Claudio.
Elle Fitness & Social (Fashion District): Women-only fitness studio! This place is always my go-to spot for a guaranteed sweat and great workout. Amazing high intensity classes like Bikini Boot Camp, Hard Ass, Lean Machine, Fab Firm, etc. This gym utilizes tons of gym equipment to enhance your workout and they are always switching up the routines. The instructors are all amazing and always have killer playlists to keep you motivated.
Barre3 (Entertainment District): Barre is a huge fitness trend right now, and you definitely don't need to have ballet experience to take a class. Barre is essentially body sculpting using small controlled movements to target specific muscle groups all over your body (like inner thighs and arms) and larger movements such as squats and lunges. These classes are definitely harder than they seem and Barre3 has amazing instructors to guide you through the process. Guaranteed to feel sore for a few days post-workout.
SPINCO (North Toronto): High energy spin studio hailing from Kelowna, BC. SPINCO provides a fun, fast-paced and super energetic workout environment. The 50-minute rides go by very fast; there is a mix of sprints, hills, and jogs with a section for arms. There's also a disco ball that fills the dark room with a little extra vibrancy that lights up in perfect unison with the songs.
